The fear of visiting the dentist can make you put off vital treatments for months or even years, impacting your health and confidence.

At Dental Arts, we offer sedation dentistry to ensure our patients remain comfortable throughout their treatment.

So how can dental sedation help you?

Sedation Allows You to Relax in the Exam Chair

We Offer Two Types of Sedation

Dental Anxiety Is a Common Issue

"We Cater to Cowards"

We are dedicated to caring for people, not just teeth, and we offer both oral sedation and nitrous oxide to meet our patients unique needs. Our team stands by our motto, “We Cater to Cowards”  and will do everything in our power to make your experience as pleasant as possible. With over 30 years of experience offering sedation, our dentists consistently deliver the highest level of skill to ensure your safety and peace of mind during your dental procedure.

Basics of Sedation Dentistry

Sedation dentistry can be tailored to meet your specific needs. We offer two types of sedation at Dental Arts, including:

  • Nitrous Oxide: A form of mild sedation, this method is administered through a small mask placed over your nose. Also known as laughing gas, nitrous oxide can be adjusted throughout treatment to help you reach optimal relaxation.
  • Oral Sedation: A more moderate form of sedation, oral sedatives place patients in a sleepy, almost dreamlike state. While patients remain conscious during the procedure, they often retain very little memory of treatment. You may be instructed to take medication either the night before or one hour prior to the procedure.

Your doctor will review your medical history to determine if you are a candidate for sedation. During your consultation, it is important to discuss any existing medical conditions, such as sleep apnea, as these can interfere with sedation.

Your Comfort Is a Priority

Regardless of which type of sedation you choose, your doctor can also administer a local anesthetic to numb your teeth and gums. In addition, each of our 10 treatment rooms is furnished with the latest equipment, including leather massaging chairs, blankets, headphones, and movies, to ensure a pleasant visit. Our office is also handicapped-accessible for seniors and patients with special needs.

With over 30 years of experience offering sedation, our dentists consistently deliver the highest level of skill to ensure your safety and peace of mind during your dental procedure.

Benefits of Sedation

Often times, patients avoid the care they need because of dental anxiety. Sedation dentistry can help patients who have:

  • Major anxiety
  • Dental phobia
  • A low tolerance for pain
  • Complex dental issues
  • A sensitive gag response
  • Dental sensitivity

We have extensive experience performing sedation dentistry, and each of our four doctors is certified to deliver sedation. To ensure your comfort and confidence in our services, we can customize your treatment plan based upon your personal preferences.

What To Expect

Nitrous oxide wears off quickly after treatment and is the only form of sedation that does not impair your driving. For patients receiving oral sedation, it is important to schedule a friend or loved one to drive you to and from our office. While you may feel groggy after the procedure, this minor side effect should fade in a few hours.
